Forgiven

These illustrations of mine are from a children's poem by A.A Milne called Forgiven, or some people may know it as Alexander the Beetle. I've tried to adapt the colourful nature of the poem, although it's short I quickly realized there is lots happening in the garden. However, many of the features, ie. the cat, granny in the background tending to her roses is from my imagination; nothing is said about either in the poem, which is what I love about illustrating children's books, it can totally be up to my own interpretation. I will slowly show some more pages as I complete them, hope you enjoy!

Aleesha

Gosh Uni is getting stressful at the moment! got a little over a month left working on projects and working our wee little hands to the bone. With this post I thought I'd take a bit of time explaining about myself. I study Visual Communications majoring in Illustration Design in Adelaide, which will be coming to a close shortly. I am currently 21 years of age and I'm aiming for this blog to get my name/work out there for potential clients, but it is also serving as a diary as well, an outlet for myself thats not full of all the facebook, myspace crap, (although I'm a self confessed facebook addict.)

I'm aiming towards children's book illustration, but I'm completely open to anything. I really just want to experience different aspects of design and I love learning off others. The prospect of potential jobs and all the different areas I could pick up work in is very exciting and I get motivated just thinking about it. Really just have to make it through Uni, work, fitting in time for friends, boyfriend and family.

I'm hoping to put up an actual website soon, so it looks more profesh, but at the moment just enjoying rambling on here.
Have a great day everyone!

Wine and Friends

These illustrations were made by watercolour, ink, acrylic ink and digital. They were done for Uni once again. The telephone was a greeting card package and the woman is, as you can see, from a wine label. With this wine label, I tried to capture the essence of the wine, being red, and the ingredients that are combined to produce this type of alcohol. Many descriptions about wine say the aroma, the taste and the food and music it is best accompanied with. Incorporating the classical music notes was an attempt to capture this, which I hope works. The drops of acrylic ink look like blackcurrant juice, to portray the use of berries in the wine.
